Abstract: We investigate the dynamics of a current-biased Josephson junction quantum bit or “qubit” coupled to an LC resonator. The Hamiltonian of this superconductor-based system is developed and the energies and eigen-functions of the entangled states are studied by Harmonic approximation. Since such a superconducting junction behaves as a two-level artificial atom coupled to a harmonic oscillator, this system can be treated as a solid-state analog of an atom in a cavity – which is the fundamental system in the welldeveloped field of Cavity Quantum Electrodynamics.

Entangled States in a Josephson Charge Qubit Coupled to a Superconducting Resonator
We study the dynamics of a quantum superconducting circuit which is the analogue of an atom in a high-Q cavity. The circuit consists of a Josephson charge qubit coupled to a superconducting resonator. The charge qubit can be treated as a two level quantum system whose energy separation is split by the Josephson energy E j. The superconducting resonator in our proposal is the analogue of a photo...
متن کاملProbing the quantum coherence of a nanomechanical resonator using a superconducting qubit: I. Echo scheme
We propose a scheme in which the quantum coherence of a nanomechanical resonator can be probed using a superconducting qubit. We consider a mechanical resonator coupled capacitively to a Cooper-pair box and assume that the superconducting qubit is tuned to the degeneracy point so that its coherence time is maximised and the electro-mechanical coupling can be approximated by a dispersive Hamilto...
متن کاملTunable resonant and nonresonant interactions between a phase qubit and LC resonator.
We use a flux-biased radio frequency superconducting quantum interference device (rf SQUID) with an embedded flux-biased direct current SQUID to generate strong resonant and nonresonant tunable interactions between a phase qubit and a lumped-element resonator. The rf SQUID creates a tunable magnetic susceptibility between the qubit and resonator providing resonant coupling strengths from zero t...
متن کاملSuperconducting phase qubit coupled to a nanomechanical resonator: Beyond the rotating-wave approximation
We consider a simple model of a Josephson junction phase qubit coupled to a solid-state nanoelectromechanical resonator. This and many related qubit-resonator models are analogous to an atom in an electromagnetic cavity. When the systems are weakly coupled and nearly resonant, the dynamics is accurately described by the rotating-wave approximation (RWA) or the Jaynes-Cummings model of quantum o...

By coupling the artificial atoms to the electromagnetic field inside a transmission l...
